Development

Step 5

Development is the fifth step in my Web Design & Development Process. It consists of transformation of mockups and wireframes into a fully functional website — a living digital entity. I develop the website to be responsive, easily maintainable, scalable, and accessible. At the end of this step, the website itself is completed and ready for optimization and launch.

Responsive development involves bringing the website to life while making sure it looks great on all devices.Given that I have well-structured mockups and wireframes at this step, the development becomes efficient and smooth. Should any issues arise during development, it typically indicates that there are gaps or oversights in previous steps.Throughout the development step, I adhere to industry best practices:
  • Responsive
    • I ensure the website looks and performs well across a spectrum of devices, from wide monitors to small smartphones.
  • Maintanable
    • The websites I develop are easily maintainable, minimizing the need for frequent fixes. In case issues do emerge, they can be quickly addressed.
  • Scalable
    • Every part of the website’s backend and frontend is developed with scalability in mind. Website serves as a centre of marketing, so it must easily adapt to business growth.
  • Accessible
    • Because I recognize the growing importance of accessibility as an SEO ranking factor – and the need for all website users to be able to easily navigate and read the website – I prioritize implementing accessibility best practices.
Development includes:
  • Base website setup
    • Server setup for development, WordPress setup, global styles and other defaults configuration, plugin installation & configuration, primary template development, navigation, 404 page, basic page template, legal pages, SMTP configuration, SEO metadata and other essential parts of the initial website setup.
  • Page development
  • Template development
  • Dynamic development
    • Custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies etc.
  • Component development
    • Forms, advanced forms, modals and pop-ups etc.
  • Advanced functionality development
    • Learning management systems, payment gateways, e-commerce functionality, membership and content restriction functionality etc.
  • Content migration
    • Blog post import from an old website, product import from spreadsheets etc.
  • 3rd party functionality integration & configuration

This step results in a fully developed website, ready for optimization and launch. While there is still substantial work ahead to ensure seamless integration into the client’s marketing ecosystem, the most challenging steps of the process now lie behind me.
